Many of China's less-traveled hiking routes often come with significant risks, and some areas are off-limits to tourists for safety reasons.
Well-known outdoor tourist attractions like Huashan and Taishan have comprehensive safety measures in place, including cable cars. Personally, I took the "northern route up and western route down" on Huashan, and the view from the cable car on the way down was absolutely stunning. (If you also choose to hike up the northern route, be sure to buy a pair of gloves ( ;´д`)—there was a stretch where I was so exhausted that I had to use both my hands and feet to climb.)
Even in well-developed scenic areas, some smaller paths may be closed due to danger, so please do not casually climb over the barriers in front of those trails.
Many outdoor scenic spots may be closed due to bad weather, so it's necessary to check announcements on their official WeChat accounts in advance. When choosing a hiking route, be sure to check the weather forecast, as conditions in some places can be quite complex and change frequently.
Tickets for many famous scenic spots need to be reserved in advance through WeChat mini-programs or the scenic area's official app, usually three to five days ahead. For more detailed information on this, please refer to Xiaohongshu for comprehensive guides.
There is an outdoor app called "Two-Step Road" that contains many well-established routes left by hikers, and you can also record and upload your own routes. However, some users may post routes that are overly difficult or even prohibited, so be sure to exercise caution and discernment.

>About Food
There are many cuisines in Shenzhen and you can taste them on your way to Huaqiangbei. Guangdong is one of the best cities to eat in China.
This includes but is not limited to Qingyuan Chicken, White Cut Chicken, Roasted Goose, Intestine Noodles, Squab, Honey Barbecued Pork, Crispy BBQ Pork, Roasted Suckling Pig, Boiled Rice, Wonton Noodles...
China will cook ingredients in so many ways that it is hard to generalize. Highly recommended to try Cantonese morning tea, I haven't had an authentic one since I left Guangdong.
I'm a bit curious about how you and your family get along, how do your parents feel about your cross-country travels and the trekking you mentioned earlier? Generally speaking, Chinese parents won't allow their new adult children to travel alone because it's a bit dangerous and it's such a long distance. Except for enlightened parents. If you don't want to answer or feel offended, please ignore! Apologies.

I strongly advise against hiking in China's uninhabited/remote areas.
If you get into danger, search and rescue operations would be extremely difficult and would unnecessarily endanger rescue workers. These areas are often ecologically protected zones, and your presence could disturb the local wildlife and vegetation. Additionally, entering such regions without permission is illegal and could result in heavy fines or legal action.
Please reconsider for your safety and out of respect for nature and the law.
