<A fact that was something of a disappointment to Harnack, who would otherwise have taken a run at her.>
Trust me, baby boy, you dodged a bullet.

<”No,” Tychus replied. “Spoken like someone from a crummy little nowhere dump. A place where truckers stopped to take a leak, where the smartest person in town was the waitress in Pappy’s Cafe, and each day felt like it was a year long.”>
I feel you, Tychus.

<Findlay and his cronies had stolen the truck, sold its contents to the highest bidder, and split the money. His money.>

<The truth was, the two had forged a solid friendship, and Raynor had become Tychus’s unofficial second in command, even if a couple of sergeants outranked him.>

<Doc, who was busy giving Tychus a shoulder massage, appeared to be oblivious to the conversation. From the dreamy look in her eyes, Raymor could tell she was high.>
Nope, I don’t buy a sht that she wasn't listening.

<Had the Confederacy come up with a new program? A way to take a wild man like Lassiter and turn him into a human robot?>
See, this is an interesting point in this book.

<But another voice could be heard as well. And it belonged to his father. “A lie is like an infraction, Son… . It burrows deep inside and makes you sick.”>

<Ironically, it was the best landing he had ever executed, day or night, and there wasn't anyone around to appreciate his accomplishment.>
